How to use your G-Technology™ drive with Windows® Operating Systems 1.1 Windows and macOS compatibility for your Mac-ready (HFS+ formatted) G-Technology drives Install HFS+ for Windows by Paragon driver on your Windows system to get full read/write access to the primary HFS+ partition on your G-Technology storage drive. This option is best suited for use cases where you want to preserve the HFS+ partition that ships with the drive or in cases where data was shared with you on this drive but stored on the HFS+ partition which is unreadable by Windows system. 1.1.1 Key Features - Provides fast and transparent read/write access to HFS+ and HFSX on Windows based computers - Only takes a few minutes to set up - Runs at startup and auto-mounts all found Mac partitions on both Windows and macOS computers - Supports the latest Windows 10 and Server 2016 - Supports Boot Camp configurations - Includes an automatic product updater - Includes a multi-language installation package 1.1.2 System Requirements - Windows 7 - Windows 8.1 - Windows 10 1.1.3 Installation a. Click on the supplied setup file, InstallParagonHFSPlusforWindows.msi, to initiate the installation. b. Click Continue on the Welcome page. c. In order to continue the installation, you are to accept all conditions stated in Paragon’s license agreement. You can also print out the agreement by using the appropriate button. d. If necessary manually edit the installation path or click ‘Change…’ to browse for the required location. e. Click 'Install' to roll out the installation. f. Finally click 'Restart' to complete the installation. g. After the product has been installed, Windows will automatically mount (assign drive letters to) all found HFS+ and HFSX volumes, which you can see in Windows Explorer. 1.2 Reformatting your Mac-ready (HFS+ formatted) G-Technology drive to Windows only format (NTFS) Run the G-Technology Format Wizard for Windows to reformat your G-Technology drive to NTFS. By doing so you will have full read/write access to the entire storage capacity on Windows systems only. WARNING: By taking this reformat step, any existing data on the drive will be erased. Please back up all data on the drive prior to performing the reformat. 1.2.1 Key Features - Easily identify and reformat your G-Technology storage products formatted for macOS into native Windows only file format (NTFS) - Only takes a few minutes to setup 1.2.2 System Requirements - Windows 7 - Windows 8.1 - Windows 10 1.2.3 Installation a. Click on the supplied setup file, GTechnologyFormatWizard_Installer.msi, to initiate the installation. b. In order to continue the installation you must read and accept all conditions stated in the End User License Agreement. c. Click 'Next' to roll out the installation. 1.2.4 Using G-Technology Format Wizard a. Connect your G-Technology drive to the Windows OS PC b. Open G-Technology Format Wizard program c. Select target drive from the list of available connected drives d. Click on 'Next' to format the drive in NTFS and wait until the operation is complete. WARNING: This operation will delete all existing partitions and data from the drive as part of reformatting the drive. Please back up all data before reformatting the drive. Your drive is now ready to use on Windows based systems. 1.3 Remove G-UTILITIES from your G-Technology drive You can easily remove G-UTILITIES from your drive by using the macOS Disk Utility. This step will add back the space taken by G-UTILITIES and add it back to your primary HFS+ partition without erasing content stored on the primary HFS+ partition. a. Go to the macOS Disk Utility b. Highlight 'G-UTILITIES' c. Click on 'Partition' from the UI d. Click on the '-' button to delete the partition e. Click on 'Apply' f.
